Academic Bio

I am currently an assistant professor of criminal justice and sociology at SUNY Delhi. I completed my Ph.D. in sociology at Western Michigan University in the summer of 2016, with specializations in Research Methods and Power and Inequality.  I also have a M.A. in Sociology from WMU (2013), and a B.S. in Sociology with a minor in geology from Lake Superior State University (2010).

My main areas of sociological specialization are research methods (evaluation and mixed methods) and power and inequality (social theory with a focus on technology and society).  I have been involved in a broad range of research projects both on campus and in the larger community.  I am committed to both academic and applied research, as well as public service and community activism, and I make every effort to inspire (and connect) my students with these endeavors as well.  For a full list of my research experience, teaching history and education, click the links to my CV and transcripts below.

More About Me

Despite the academic realm being a major part of my life, there is so much more to who I am!  My wife Karen and I currently live in upstate NY with our amazing Kids Nora and Wayne, and our dog Rocky.  I spend much of my free time having adventures with my family, from camping and hiking, to remodeling our home and gardening every available square foot of our city lot.  I am also an avid rock climber, woodworker and drummer, with a penchant for science fiction and tinkering with anything mechanical.
